Questions about the colonists?

It really depends on the colony and the colonists. In some cases, the colonists were befriended by the Indians -they worked together and respected each other. In other cases, the colonists acted as though the land belonged to them and the Indians were vermin who should be shot or otherwise disposed of. So there was really no single response.
