Which looks better with a suit, a Tie or a Bow tie?

Well i have this ball to attend and i am going to buy a suit which looks like a tuxedo and it comes along with a black bow tie, but i want to wear a black tie instead, i think a tie is better and would look good. Which would you recommend?
