Do i have to get a package for Direct Tv?

We just got direct tv yesterday night. Im not sure if my mom got the packages though..We have all cool new channels like nickjr disneyhd and like 2 cartoon networks but we dont have channels like disney xd and amc and all that. Im looking online and disney xd comes with every package...but why dont we have disney xd? Is that because we dont have any packages? How does it work. Please provide tons of details we're new to direct tv lol.
