What is the use of acetylation of primary amines?

Ok, so I found this experiment of acetylation of primary amines using acetic acid instead of chlorinated solvent. Would you please tell me what's the use of this experiment? I'm in IB junior year and my teacher tells me to do an experiment on green chemistry which is pretty crazy. She didn't even teach me about green chemistry or kind of that.
