When I donate money to a charity at a store, who gets the write-off? The corporation or me?

I am concerned that there are many companys who do not put an actual dime in the donation cannister at their stores, but reap the benefit of playing the part of benefactors to charities. Isn't this somewhat unethical? Do they receive tax credits for "their" donations?
